Maybe tomorrow the end will come!
I'm actually referring to this leg of the decline, not the end of the world! Today I thought we'd get "it". By "it" I mean panic selling in the morning of maybe 600-900 DOW points that suddenly reverses to form a "V" bottom and then takes off to the upside on massive volume and closes positive for the day. That would be a text book reversal marking a significant bottom. We've seen pretty panicked selling, but so far no legitimate reversal. Maybe the problem is that to many people are looking for what I just described, the perfect bottom that signals "all clear". Maybe this time it frustrates the big money bulls by denying them this obvious entry point. I know a lot of so called "smart money" traders have been legging into this decline and as a result are very long. These guys are usually right, but this time they've been wrong for an unusually long period. We're at a very interesting and historic juncture. Lots of record extremes being set. Lots of forced liquidations. Be very careful. Buying this market without that washout reversal I described could be hazardous to your investment health. If you do, keep your positions smaller than usual. The increased volatility will make up for the reduced position. Maybe tomorrow the end WILL come.
